On 1st March 2018, Mr. Lawrence D. Barchue, the Assistant Secretary-General/Director of Department for Member State Audit and Implementation Support of IMO, takes his courtesy visit to the City Office of MTCC-Asia under the company of Ms. Li Guangyu, Director of the International Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Transport of China and Ms. Liang Congcong, Senior Officer of Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration.
On behalf of the MTCC-Asia as well as the Shanghai Maritime University (SMU), the host institution of MTCC-Asia, Mr. Jin Yongxing, the Director of MTCC-Asia and the Chairman of SMU Council, together with his staff members, expresses his warm welcome to Mr. Lawrence for this visiting. Mr. Jin thanks the chance and the supports provided by IMO and EU, and is confident that under the IMO’s guidance as well as the supports of the relevant stakeholders, the MTCC-Asia will fulfill its commitments to make the great contribution in the overall objective of the Global MTCC Network (GMN). Mr. Ruan, the Head of MTCC-Asia, introduces the MTCC-Asia’s vision, objectives, the major works achieved in 2017 and the working plan in the coming years.
After the onsite observation of MTCC-Asia space and the face-to-face communication with the MTCC-Asia staff members, Mr. Lawrence appreciates for providing the visiting opportunity and the generous reception. He praises the MTCC-Asia’s facilities and the staff’s professional expertise, stating that the outcomes and future works of the MTCC-Asia are impressive and looking forward to the MTCC-Asia’s leading contribution within the GMN. In particular, on behalf of the IMO, Mr. Lawrence thanks the hard efforts that MTCC-Asia has undertaken in successfully establishing the Branch Office in Cambodia for contributing the promotion of the maritime capacity building in the said country, which is one of objectives that IMO consistently pursues.
