On October 3rd, Mr. Chan Dara, Director General of General Department of Waterway-Maritime Transport and Ports of Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Kingdom of Cambodia and his colleague, Mr. Mak Sideth paid their visit to the MTCC-Asia in Shanghai. He was warmly welcomed by Prof. Jin Yongxing, Director of MTCC-Asia and Chairman of Board of Shanghai Maritime University (SMU) in the accompany with the MTCC-Asia staff showed around the City office located in Lujiazui Financial District of Shanghai.
In the following meeting chaired by Mr. Ruan Wei, Head of MTCC-Asia and Dean of International Education College of Shanghai Maritime University, Mr. Jin spoke about the vision, the mission and the activities of MTCC-Asia in fighting against ship GHG emission in Asian Maritime Countries under the direction of IMO. He expressed gratitude to the relentless support from Cambodia in the bidding and hoped that Mr. Chan and his excellent department would continue to support MTCC-Asia, in particular the establishment and operations of MTCC-Asia Branch Office in Cambodia. Staff members of MTCC-Asia introduced the detailed future plan of MTCC-Asia, with emphasis on the upcoming MTCC-Asia Branch Office and the national workshop in Cambodia.
Mr. Chan, on behalf of his department and himself extended their appreciation to MTCC-Asia for the sincere invitation and hospitality. After the introduction of the overall situation of maritime capacity building in Cambodia, Mr. Chan highlighted their active welcome to and support of the establishment and operations of MTCC-Asia Branch Office in Cambodia, stressing that they would pay the closer contact and cooperation with the MTCC-Asia to make the first MTCC-Asia Branch Office successful and effective.
Then the two sides exchanged ideas on deeper cooperation plan.
